The 356 Speedster was one of Porsche’s most iconic models and first came to life in 1954 because U.S. Porsche importer Max Hoffman wanted a stripped-out, more driver focused car. The new Porsche 911 Carrera 3.2 Speedster was introduced for the 1989 model year to celebrate the 911’s 25th anniversary. The new Speedster was built on the 3.2 liter Carrera chassis and available in both narrow body and “Turbo look” wide body versions. It was equipped with the H-program’s 3.2-liter air-cooled flat six engine which produced 231 horsepower. It featured design attributes of the original Speedster including a raked windshield, two-seats, and a roll-away roof for that stowed neatly under the double-bubble rear tonneau cover. The Porsche “Speedster was only available for the 1989 model year with only”2104 examples
produced which make it highly collectible.
