Introduced at the Geneva Motor Show in 1963 and remaining in production until 1971, the Mercedes W113 “Pagoda” got the nickname from the slightly concave hardtop designed by Paul Bracq. The 280 SL’s 6-cylinder 2.8-liter engine develops and impressive 170 BHP and was paired to either a 4-speed automatic or the manual gearbox with 4 or five forward gears.
The Pagoda’s timeless elegant design and exceptional ease of use make it popular amongst both car collectors and those entering the collector car world. In addition, these models are well supported by Mercedes Benz and model specialists with a vast network of suppliers.
This example is a 1969-year model car first registered in South Africa in 1970 and has the 4-speed manual transmission. It underwent a full restoration by German Autohaus (a respected Mercedes Benz specialist) in Bryanston Johannesburg approximately 15 years ago and is still in excellent condition.
In addition to the full mechanical and cosmetic restoration, a high-quality interior with desirable basket -weave seat covers and headrests was imported from Germany together with a matching soft top and were fitted at the time of restoration
This example comes with its original hard top roof too
