The Porsche 911 SC was introduced in 1978 and was available in Coupe, Targa, and later Cabriolet versions. The SC (Super Carrera) name was reintroduced for the first time since the 356 SC in 1964. The 911 SC is a landmark Porsche which is credited with saving the 911 model. Porsche had developed the 928 to replace it, but as the 911 SC was built to appeal to a wider market with enhanced ease of use, sales were very strong, and Porsche was convinced to keep the 911 in production.

A big factor contributing to the strong sales was the enhanced ease of use …….. this was due to the following:

• A different camshaft design which gave the engine a more tractable low-end. The advantages:
  • The Porsche 911 SC was easier to drive around town and in traffic.
  • Fewer downshifts to extract performance.

• The 3.0L flat 6-cylinder engine with Bosch K-Jetronic fuel injection was based on a non turbo version of the 930 Turbo engine. This 3.0l engine offered better reliability and more potential for future tuning than the 2.7l.
• Servo assisted brakes which provided improved braking performance and better pedal feel

This Porsche 911 SC is an early production Targa built in 1978. In 2017 and 2018 it underwent a full nut and bolt restoration to concours standard for Gavin Rooke of “Dutchmann” as one of his personal vehicles.

This included:

• Full body and paint restoration
• Full engine restoration
• Full suspension restoration
• All electricals
• All mechanicals

• Desirable colour – Mocha Brown is this car’s original colour
• Numbers matching
• Full nut and bolt restoration in 2017 to 2018 with only 3000km covered since restoration
• Investment friendly left hand drive configuration
• Desirable 16-inch Fuchs rims and Michelin tyres fitted in 2024 – (value R 100 000)
• Porsche Classic audio system
