The Triumph TR6 followed the TR5 from 1969 with the British and global market receiving the fuel-injected models and the US receiving the carburettor models until the end of production in 1976 while the TR7 was being produced.
There were mechanical similarities to the TR6’s predecessor, however it has been restyled by Karmann in Germany, who is responsible for cars such as the VW Karmann Ghia and other well-known cars. Styling improvements included a nose and tail facelift as well as removable hardtop.
The 2.5 litre 6 cylinder engine that was installed in the TR6 was similar to that of the TR5 with the assistance of the Lucas mechanical fuel-injection system and produced 150 BHP upon it’s release. It was also coupled to a four speed syncromesh manual gearbox with an optional overdrive feature. Along with the engine performance, it also came with other features which assisted in overall handling such as the independent rear suspension, rack and pinion steering, brake discs at the front with drums in the rear and a limited slip differential offered as an optional extra. Triumph also offered the TR6 with a rear anti-roll bar as an optional extra to further improve stability around corners.
This example of the Triumph TR6 is a 1972 model that has undergone a complete restoration in 1997 and has been upgraded since then.

This example of the TR6 also won a few awards which include the Cape Town Silver and Gold Concours awards and a Gold Medal Concours award at the 2012 Triumph National Gathering at Plettenburg Bay.
