In line with Porsche’s philosophy of gradual improvement over time, the Carrera was introduced in 1984 as the replacement for the successful SC series and featured the following improvements:

  • Increase in power - 3.2l engine – 231 BHP – 80% new – use of Porsche 3.3l crankshaft for longer stroke
  • Improved refinement and reliability via upgraded fuel and ignition to L Jetronic with Bosch Motronics 2 DME
  • Improved fuel consumption – DME cut off on over run
  • Better braking and heat dissipation with the fitment of larger disc brakes
  • Improved oil cooling with the fitment of a new oil cooler

This Example:

This Porsche 911 Carrera was first delivered in Germany on the 14th of March 1985 by Max Moritz. According to the original service booklets it was imported to South Africa in the mid 1990’s. It was purchased in 2018 by its previous owner and an Outlaw/RS build was undertaken in conjunction with respected independent Porsche specialists RS Auto Sport in Randburg

Backdating:

  • Original F type fenders sourced and fitted
  • F type bumpers fitted
  • Carbon fibre bonnet sourced and fitted
  • Carbon fibre boot lid
  • Bare metal respray

Mechanical:

  • Leakage test completed by RS Autosport
  • New clutch pressure plate fitted
  • New oil pipes fitted
  • New fuel pipes fitted
  • New wheel bearings fitted
  • Engine fitted with Motec management system
  • Custom exhaust manufactured by Rob Howie
  • Brakes upgraded to 4 piston calipers – from Porsche Boxster

Suspension & tyres:

  • Koni shocks fitted all round
  • New suspension bushes
  • New 16-inch rims
  • Continental tyres fitted all round – fronts dated 2418 and rears 4317

Interior:

  • Modern air-conditioning system fitted
  • Seats trimmed with red houndstooth style inserts
  • OMP sports steering wheel fitted
  • Custom red gauges fitted
  • Bluetooth & Navigation rear view mirror
