The Land Rover Defender was first released in 1990. It was developed from the original Land Rover series models which commenced production in 1948. It was released in two versions, the 90 and 110. The 90 was a three-door variant and had a 90-inch wheelbase whereas the 110 had five doors and a 110-inch wheelbase.

In 2004 a series of updates were introduced, most notably the introduction of the Ford based 2.4l Turbo diesel engine known as the Puma. This was in order to meet strict emission regulations, but updates were made to the interior too, a new dashboard and instruments from the Discovery 3, as Defender buyers were moving upmarket.

In the years prior to the last Land Rover Defender rolling off the line in 2016. limited edition models were produced by Land Rover and local distributors. Since production ended, Land Rover Defenders have become highly collectible and sought after. In particular, the Limited-edition models.

This example is a 2011 Land Rover Defender 110 with the 2.4l common rail diesel “Puma” engine. It is a desirable Limited-edition model known as the Raw edition (X-Tech in some countries). Features of the Raw edition:
