The Alfa Romeo Giulietta Spider epitomizes the romance and newfound freedom of the 1950’s and 60’s. An early 1956 Alfa Romeo Giulietta Spider starred in Federico’s Fellini’s film La Dolce Vita and since then it has been the undisputed icon of “The Good Life”

The new Giulietta range, named Project 750, was introduced in 1954 and brought Alfa Romeo into the mass production market. Initially the Giulietta Sprint Coupe, was introduced but strong influence from American importer Max Hoffman, saw the Pininfarina styled spider introduced shortly thereafter.

Examples from 1956 to 1958 are the early short wheelbase cars on the tipo 750 chassis. They are powered by the free revving 1.3l inline 4-cylinder 65 BHP twin cam engine, the basis for most Alfa Romeo engines for several decades. Weighing only 858kg it has 100 mph performance and is a fun car to drive.
