The Gullwing Tribute is a unique one of a kind aluminium skinned special, built in Cape Town over the past 5 years.

The Ingredients:

• A 2001 Mercedes Benz SLK 32 AMG was the base - A perfectly good second hand example was sourced
• The SLK 32 AMG body was cut away and a steel roll cage was added to restore torsional rigidity and safety
• A body buck was designed and constructed by the owner using data from a Mercedes Benz 300sl Gullwing 3D scan
• A hand made aluminium body was skillfully constructed using references provided by the buck which also incorporated some unique design elements of the owner

The driving experience:

All the modern elements from the donour car were retained which results in a user friendly car with a special retro style. The automatic gearbox shifts smoothly and performance is brisk with the 3.2l supercharged 350 BHP V6 powering a rigid lightened chassis with approximately 400kg saved over the donour car. Comforts such as power steering, air conditioning and nappa leather seats finish off a very intelligently constructed "restomod" which true car enthusiasts will admire.
