This 1937 Chevrolet Master – Sport Coupe is a time capsule representing the art deco style of Harley Earl, head of design at General Motors. Son of a coachbuilder, he introduced the concept car, clay modelling and founded the Art and Colour section of General Motors. He introduced dynamic obsolescence which featured unique design elements for each model year.
1937 was an important year for Chevrolet. A major re-tool in 1936 was the basis for the sales slogan for 1937:
“The Complete Car – Completely New”.

This 1937 Chevrolet Master – Sport Coupe is a South African assembled example and has been in single family ownership since the 70’s. The Sport Coupe is differentiated from the Business Coupe as it has a rear rumble “Dickie” seat where as the Business Coupe has a large trunk in its place.
