The Porsche 996 Turbo was unveiled at the Frankfurt Motor Show in September 1999 before going on sale the following year. It has a 3.6L flat six engine that was derived from the 1998 911 GT1 race car that won the 24hr of Le Mans race that year and a twin turbo system that improves its power output to 420 BHP. Power is delivered via a 6-speed manual transmission and applied to all four wheels through an all-wheel drive system. This combination translates to a 0-100 km/h time of 4.2 seconds and a top speed of 310 km/h.
This Porsche 911 (996) Turbo was delivered new on the 16th of March 2001 and was specced with the desirable six speed manual gearbox.
The following optional extras were specced:
This example had a major service 6000km ago which included replacement of spark plugs and brake fluid plus a brand new set of Michelin tyres have recently been fitted.
The current owner requested a software upgrade boosting power which together with the six speed manual gearbox and four wheel drive make this Porsche 996 Turbo a true entry level supercar.
This example is available for viewing at the Crossley & Webb showroom in Gardens Cape Town
